Community Rules

Forum

The forum is used to discuss matters regarding the wiki. Think about the forum essentially as the water cooler at work. If your posting on the forum please use appropriate language. If your writing on the forum be respectful and mindful of others as you always should.

Blog Posts

Blog Posts are designed to let members of the community voice their personal opinions in the form of a blog, an internet diary if you will. However that being said, your blog should not be full of random topics but rather topics relating to the Midnight Gospel. Your welcome to post fanfiction, your thoughts on an episode, or other topics regarding the wiki/mentioned show.

Article Creating and Editing

Articles need to have the same format all throughout the wiki. Pages that are dedicated to characters need to have the character page format, pages dedicated to places need to have the place's format, as well as pages dedicated to objects, need to have the same page format as other object pages. When creating a page or writing an article use a neutral point of view. Another good rule to keep in mind always try to upload images in a PNG format. PNG's are the wiki's standard because they are simply higher quilty images than other files.

Editing Summarizations

Editing summaries while not required, they are incredibly useful for administers and fellow editors. Take the time to fill out a summary of your edit before publishing.

Page Creating

When creating pages make sure you're filling them out with all their updated information before creating more pages. For example, if you created three pages and only filled out one than those other pages will be deleted. This rule prevents the wiki from getting swapped with empty pages.

Image Uploading

When uploading images be sure to upload in a PNG format as PNG's are lossless meaning the image(s) has a higher quality. If you must you can upload in a JPG or JPEG format these images are acceptable to lose, leading to lower image quality.

Image Naming

Start by naming all your images. Do not upload an image that just has a random series of numbers or letters this proves unhelpful to the wiki. As the wiki is still new it is important to get these habits down so in the future the wiki won't be hitting any roadblocks. File names should include the season number/episode name/abbreviation/the name of what is in the image. Example: File:S1MoSClancyDancing.png

Image Catagories

Adding categories can be easy if you know what categories that images should go in. If the image is from season 1 then you should add a season 1 category tag on the image. Additionally, if the image is of a character than add the Character category. If the image is of a character than add the character/character name tag (Character/Clancy). If the image is an official image such as a model sheet name the file season/character name/model sheet/episode name (S1 Clancy model sheet Mouse of Silver). If the image is a storyboard than name the image season name/episode name/storyboard panel (S1 Mouse of Silver storyboard panel).

Neutral point of view

On Wiktionary, neutrality directly implies that a descriptive approach is taken towards the documentation of languages and not a prescriptive approach. This is one of the primary tenets of how Wiktionary works. Entries should not impose any particular view on the correctness of a word or meaning, as this is subjective and does not represent all views fairly. Incorrectness is always a subjective matter when language is concerned, as different people speak differently and no speech variety is inherently less valid than any other, only perhaps more or less widely used.[1]

Administrator Rules and Regulations

Inactive Administrators

Inactive administrators will be demoted from their positions if they haven't made an edit in two months. Inactive Bureaucrats will be marked inactive if they have not made an edit in three months.

Vandalism

On the Midnight Gospel wiki, there are three levels of vandalism. However, before leaving a vandal template on a user's page please leave them a polite message explaining what they did wrong than if they continue to vandalism than you can start adding vandal templates to their message wall.

  • Level 1 - A level 1 vandal is for unnecessary edits, adding information to articles that are just not necessary. Meaning that making edits that are not helpful to the wiki (after being warned to stop), not listening or respecting admins, and posting non-factual information in articles, etc. These vandals will receive a level 1 Vandal template, along with a ban of 1 day. A level 1 ban template will also be on their wall.
  • Level 2 - A level 2 vandal is considered worse than a level 1 vandal. A level 2 vandal ignores an admin's warning to halt making not-good faith edits. These editors will receive a ban of 2 weeks. A level 2 ban template will also be on their wall.
  • Level 3 - A level 3 vandal is worse than a level 1 and 2. These vandals remove extensive content from pages and have the intent to do harm. They will receive a one to two-month ban depending on the damage. A level 3 ban template will also be on their wall.

If you can't figure out how to fix it an error, then leave a message with an admin explaining the problem.

How to become a Board Member

Currently, the Midnight Gospel Wiki is full and doesn't need any more administrators. To become an administrator in the future there are rules in place. See Administrator Information.
